The “Magic City” had been awash with cocaine and drug money. The drug trade generated numerous and often infamous acts of violence. In 1981 was labeled Miami's "Deadliest Summer". Crime was up and tourism was down, these crooked cops nicknamed "Cocaine Cowboys" contributed to the deadly summer.

So in a time so dark, in a city so beautiful, Miami soon became a
Paradise Lost.
